Abstract

The ''Scalable integrated ion-traps for Quantum Technologies'' (SiQT) project within the Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS)-Integration laboratories (iLabs) focuses on the system integration of optical and electronic elements for improved and scalable optical detection in ion trap systems. In this work, we report a detection scheme that is based on an array of CMOS-based SPAD's in combination with microfabricated Fresnel zone plates to support scaling and imaging of extended strings of ions. The versatility of this scheme is that it can be tailored for different ion trap systems.
