Abstract

Metal complexes have been discovered as a novel class of structure-directing agents for the synthesis of porosils, i.e. zeolite-type solids with a pure silica framework. A survey is given about the different preparation methods used and the silica-metal complex host-guest compounds that have been synthesized so far. Special attention is given to differences between cobalticinium nonasil compounds that have been synthesized in basic or fluoride media.
