- Abstract
It is shown that there are four parameters which govern the stresses incontacting bodies during rolling-sliding motion: the maximum hertzian pressure po: the coefficient of sliding friction, μ; the ration fx/μ of the traction coefficient to the coefficient of sliding friction; the direction of the tangential load compared with the direction of rolling, i.e. whether the body is driving or being driven.
