Abstract

Numerical calculations (method of moments) will be shown for the field distribution inside a gigaHertz TEM cell (GTEM cell) both for an unloaded and loaded cell (test objects = a 50 cm sphere and a 0.5 * 0.5 * 1.0 m metal box). The GTEM cell fields in each case will be compared to the equivalent free space situation (plane wave incident on the same two test objects). The goal is to assess the equivalence between the resultant free space and GTEM cell field perturbation. In addition to the numerical simulations, some analytical (sphere in free space) and measured data (sphere in GTEM cell) will also considered. For the frequency range applicable to die present numerical model (< 30 MHz) the equivalence between GTEM cell and free space environments is found to be very good.
