The German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht e.V., or GRUR) is a non-profit scientific association of professional groups and organisations working in the field of industrial property and copyright. Its members include, in particular, academics, judges, lawyers, patent attorneys and representatives of associations and private companies. The GRUR Taskforce IGC has been observing the negotiations of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore since 2022. This opinion summarises the results of the discussions of the GRUR Taskforce IGC on the WIPO negotiations on a convention on the protection of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge and on the draft text of a convention.
