Leibniz Universität Hannover and QUEST are dedicated to perform top-level research and teaching! The best way to achieve highest quality in education of young scientists is to participate students in modern reseach projects as early as possible.
In this framework, the basic idea of Hannover School for Light, Optics and Space-Time Research (HALOSTAR) is to support excellent students in the fields of physics, mathematics and geodesy to perform top-level research in Hannover. HALOSTAR aims to attract and bind most promising students to Leibniz Universität Hannover at an early stage of their carreer. Therefore, HALOSTAR adresses not only graduate students, but also pre-master students with an outstanding bachelor degree. Consequently, the curriculum is specially designed to fit this puropse and consists of special lectures for bachelor and master students, laboratory courses, social skill seminars and much more. HALOSTAR will start in winter semester 2009/2010.
The program is funded by Federal State of Lower Saxony comprising financial support for 15 PhD-fellowships with an overall amount of 300.000 € per year!
Moreover, QUEST as one of the initiators of the program fully supports HALOSTAR.
